Mary-Dulany James SD-34
A lifelong Marylander, farm owner and attorney, she has advocated for affordability, quality schools, job growth and healthcare during her time in the legislature.
Voters would like to re-elect Mary-Dulaney James because:
- Mary-Dulany James is focused on making life more affordable for Harford County families, seniors, and small businesses. To reduce electricity prices, she worked to pass the Utility Relief Act, a new state law that stops data centers from raising costs and prevents utilities from raising rates to fund higher pay for executives. Positive messaging on James’ work on affordability is 70% total convincing and includes a statement on James’ work passing a state law that requires data centers to cover construction and upgrade costs (not ratepayers).
- Mary-Dulany James will always focus on making sure Harford County families live in safe communities. As our State Senator, she has taken the lead in passing laws to strengthen protections against child exploitation, prosecute assault cases, and improve policing. James has also worked to pass laws that crack down on fentanyl and heroin traffickers to get dangerous drugs and criminals out of our neighborhoods.
- Mary-Dulany James believes every Harford County family deserves access to affordable, quality health care. In Annapolis, she is committed to standing up for us against the insurance industry and drug companies that put their profits ahead of our healthcare. James is working to make sure doctors and patients, not corporate executives, determine care. And she supports local frontline healthcare workers by investing in our hospitals, ERs, and community clinics.
Voters are repelled by Raj Goel because:
- He is a right-wing conservative who is too extreme for Maryland. He has donated thousands of dollars to MAGA politicians who back Trump’s radical and dangerous policies and tax breaks for corporations and billionaire CEOs while we are forced to pay higher prices. Messaging on Goel being too extreme tests most effectively with swing voters (57% total doubts).
- He is a former corporate lawyer who spent years working for wealthy executives and their companies. Financial records show Goel profited from his former law firm, which represented data center developers and secured a deal to build new data centers in Frederick. His ties to data center developers and wealthy executives raises doubts with just under half of swing voters (48%).
American Future will engage in this race from late September to late October.
