Emil Jones III grew up on the far South Side of Chicago, and began his career helping grow small businesses and improve the local economy. As our senator, Jones has led the fight to make our neighborhoods safer, passing legislation targeted at getting gangs off the street; and he has secured tens of millions of dollars to improve roads, bridges, and infrastructure in our district, supporting hundreds of local jobs.

As our representative in State Senate District 14, Emil has been working with Gov. Pritzker and Democrats to put Illinois families first.

How has Senator Emil Jones III been delivering for us? As our State Senator, he has secured tens of millions of dollars to improve roads, bridges, and infrastructure in our district, supporting hundreds of local jobs. These investments will make the CTA, PACE, and all public transportation safer, more affordable and more reliable; improve roads and bridges; and expand bike and pedestrian paths across our community, while increasing safety and bringing good paying jobs. He’s helped pass important legislation and secured funding for our district, including:

  • $63+ million for local infrastructure projects (SB 2111)
  • $2 million for local renewable energy developments (Equitable Energy Future Grant Program)
  • $1.5B transit funding package without statewide tax increases (SB211)
  • $4.5 million in grants for local libraries (Illinois Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants Program)

Senator Emil Jones is also fighting to reduce the cost of living and help working families make ends meet.

  • Voted to eliminate the state grocery tax (HB 3144)
  • Fighting to protect families hurt by Trump’s federal cuts to food aid
  • Working to hold hospitals and insurance companies accountable for providing affordable health care in struggling communities (HB 5395, HB 2719)

Senator Emil Jones III is keeping our kids safe — online and in our neighborhoods. Emil Jones also has fought to stop the current cyberbullying epidemic and online harassment. As our senator he has helped:

  • Pass legislation to make speeding in park zones carry equivalent penalties to speeding in school zones
  • Increase efforts to protect kids from harmful online targeting — including cracking down on firearm marketing aimed at minors (HB0218)
